Footnotes:

1. Tampa Bay and Los Angeles are still competing for the 5 seed, the holder of which will get to play at the NFC East champion, the team with the worst record in the whole playoffs. Hence, Tampa may play their starters to try to win the 5 seed. If the teams finish tied, the Rams would get the spot because they beat the Bucs.

2. Pittsburgh and Buffalo are still competing for the 2 seed. The only thing this will really decide is where the game happens if the two teams happen to meet in the playoffs. Given the two cities' similar weather, geographic proximity (no long flight/jet lag required), and no fans in either stadium, there is barely a homefield advantage between the two if they play each other. Today, Governor Cuomo has said there *may* be around 6k fans in Buffalo for the playoffs, but I do not believe that will be enough to get the Steelers to play their starters next week, especially when the Steelers have other reasons they'll likely rest: their bye week was taken away by the league earlier this season due to the Titans COVID issues and earlier this month they played 3 games in 11 days due to the Ravens COVID issues. The Bills, if they were maybe thinking of resting next week, maybe now won't after hearing about the possibility of fans in the playoffs. They definitely can't rest tonight because if they lose twice, they can actually fall to the 4 seed because they lost to the Titans, and they definitely won't want to have to travel to Nashville, a stadium with more than enough fans to make a difference. It's also important to note that in most years, the other difference between the 2 and 3 seeds would be their first round opponent, since the 2 seed gets the 7 seed and the 3 seed gets the 6 seed. However, with any of 5 different teams who could end up in those wild card spots and no clarity on that whatsoever when the Steelers and Bills kick off on Sunday, that will not factor into the decision whatsoever. If the teams finish tied, the Bills would get the spot because they beat the Steelers.

Ranking Week 15 Sunday games

Ranking today's games from least exciting to most exciting

Jacksonville at Baltimore

The Jags got safetied to start off the game, and it just went downhill from there

Detroit at Tennessee

The Titans scored the most points of any team today, but not the most of any team this week!

Cleveland at NY Giants

NBC and the NFL should have just kept the original SNF game, SF@DAL, as it was much better

New England at Miami

Patriots ELIMINATED

Seattle at Washington

The Seahawks have been struggling against NFC East teams that I just don’t think they should be struggling against if their record is a reflection of how good they are.

Kansas City at New Orleans

Was this a Super Bowl preview?

NY Jets at LA Rams

The Jets have completed the circle of parity

Tampa Bay at Atlanta

Who would have imagined that Antonio Brown would be the one to complete the comeback?

San Francisco at Dallas

The Cowboys would have been the easiest of the 4 NFC East teams to be eliminated today, but they weren't, and all 4 are still alive.

Houston at Indianapolis

Both Texans' losses to the Colts ended with a red zone fumble with under a minute left

Philadelphia at Arizona

Jalen Hurts could not complete the comeback against his predecessor at Oklahoma: Kyler Murray

Chicago at Minnesota

While both teams are technically still alive, everyone knew coming in that both these teams really needed to win today to have any realistic shot, and the Bears stayed more alive than the Vikings with a Hail Mary INT

College Football Playoff analysis

 So here’s my analysis:

1. Bama

2. Clemson

3. Ohio State

The contenders for the 4 spot ranked by how likely I think it is the committee will pick them, along with a pro and a con:

Notre Dame

-they beat every team on their schedule

-their only win against Clemson came at home, against a backup QB, and in 2OT

Texas A&M

-their only loss was Alabama, and they’ve won 7 straight since then, their most since the 90s

-they started the day 3 spots behind ND, and did not even make it to their conference’s championship game

Cincinnati

-only undefeated team out of these 3

-no Group of 5 has ever made it

Ranking Week 14 Sunday games

Ranking today's games, least exciting to most exciting

NY Jets at Seattle
The Jets could not do as well as their NY counterparts did last week in Seattle.. in fact, not even close

Houston at Chicago
The Texans suck

Dallas at Cincinnati
Andy Dalton dominated in his return to Cincy

Tennessee at Jacksonville
Gardner Minshew II is better than Mike Glennon anyway

Arizona at NY Giants
Why did the Giants start Jones when McCoy played so well last week?

Pittsburgh at Buffalo
The Steelers for all intents and purposes lost the first seed, and appear to be on track to lose the division to the Browns

Indianapolis at Las Vegas
The Raiders kept it close till the fourth, but the dagger was Carr’s pick-six

Minnesota at Tampa Bay
The Vikings had 4 missed kicks worth 10 points, and lost by 12

Denver at Carolina
The Panthers actually made it interesting at the end, but this late in the season, when two teams who are both eliminated from the playoffs are playing, it’s just not enticing even when a game is close

Kansas City at Miami
The Chiefs hung on and have effectively clinched the first seed (losing it would require losing to the Chargers specifically)

Washington at San Francisco
WFT now has a top-7 record in the whole NFC anyway, so people can't even complain they're only in playoff positioning due to a bad division

Green Bay at Detroit
New Orleans at Philadelphia
Both these games effectively ended simultaneously when both the Lions and Saints failed onside kicks. Both of these were bad news for the Saints as the Packers took over the first seed

Atlanta at LA Chargers
2 INT in the final two minutes!

Ranking Week 13 Sunday games

New England at LA Chargers

The Patriots are right back in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt

Cincinnati at Miami

BCB!

LA Rams at Arizona

The end of the game had a lot of chaos with a muffed punt, a missed FG, and a pick-six that made up for the missed FG and iced the game

Cleveland at Tennessee

The Browns made multiple unnecessary miscues in the 4th quarter and almost lost the game

Philadelphia at Green Bay

The Eagles should start Hurts next week

New Orleans at Atlanta

Taysom Hill threw his first TD since BYU!

Denver at Kansas City

The Chiefs stay on the Steelers’ heels

NY Giants at Seattle

This game came down to a couple of inches because the defender was barely out of bounds when he touched the ball, making it a safety instead of a touchdown, a five-point difference, the amount they lost by

Indianapolis at Houston

The Texans fumbled away the ball, the game, and the season

Detroit at Chicago

After starting 5-1, the Bears have now lost 6 in a row for the first time since 2002

Jacksonville at Minnesota

The Vikings are currently in a playoff spot!

Las Vegas at NY Jets

Anirudh Sailesh texted me “Destined to go 0-16” after the Hail Mary, which he called a Hail Mart

Ranking Week 12 Sunday games

Ranking today’s games, least exciting to most exciting

New Orleans at Denver

Chicago at Green Bay

There were 500 fans allowed at Lambeau

Las Vegas at Atlanta

Carr committed 4 turnovers

Miami at NY Jets

Darnold returning wasn’t enough for the Jets who fell to 0-11, Meanwhile the Dolphins remain right on the Bills’ heels

Tennessee at Indianapolis

A.J. Brown is better than his college teammate D.K. Metcalf. Speaking of guys who go by initials, T.Y. Hilton finally got his first TD catch of the year

LA Chargers at Buffalo

The Bills are going to win the division

Kansas City at Tampa Bay

Mahomes and Brady finish their career against each other at 2-2

NY Giants at Cincinnati

Daniel Jones got injured, but the Giants defense held on! They’re in 1st place! Joe Judge has a better chance of helping NY win a division title than Aaron Judge does!

Cleveland at Jacksonville

The Browns might have just clinched their first non-losing season since before the Jaguars were created, but they’ve struggled all season against bad teams, including today. I think they’ll get bounced first round

San Francisco at LA Rams

Mostert’s return alone was enough to top the Rams, even without Jimmy G.. will it be enough to get the defending NFC champs back into the playoffs?

Arizona at New England

Career-low passing yards for Cam, and yet the Pats get right back into playoff contention! The play when Chase Winovich just started jumping up and down due to how short Murray is was hilarious

Carolina at Minnesota

Jeremy Chinn’s first 2 career TDs weren’t enough due to an insane comeback in the final 3 minutes involving a muffed punt, a goal line stand, Kirk Cousins leading a great drive, and a missed FG by the Panthers

Ranking Week 11 Sunday games

Ranking today’s games, least exciting to most exciting:

Cincinnati at Washington

Joe Burrow’s injury was the least exciting thing to happen this week.

Pittsburgh at Jacksonville

Steelers 10-0.

NY Jets at LA Chargers

Jets 0-10.

Detroit at Carolina

Governor Whitmer isn’t the one who caused your husband to score 0 points, Kelly.

Meanwhile: No Bridgewater, No McCaffrey, No Problem.

Philadelphia at Cleveland

The Eagles stay in first place while the Browns pass up the Ravens for 2nd place!

Atlanta at New Orleans

Did ESPN fantasy really keep Hill as a TE? Did anybody take advantage?

New England at Houston

After not beating them for a decade, the Texans have now beat the Patriots twice since last Thanksgiving

Miami at Denver

Benching Tua ended the winning streak

Dallas at Minnesota

Everybody in the NFC East now has exactly 3 wins!

Kansas City at Las Vegas

The Chiefs got their revenge

Tennessee at Baltimore

The Titans got the last laugh after Harbaugh got mad at them for standing on the logo

Green Bay at Indianapolis

MVS was not the MVP

Ranking Week 10 Sunday games

Ranking today’s games, least exciting to most exciting:

Houston at Cleveland

This was just an absolutely garbage game between 2 garbage teams

Denver at Las Vegas

The Raiders actually still have a fairly reasonable chance of winning the division

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh

9-0.

Tampa Bay at Carolina

The Bucs are clearly a really good team, but they better hope they don’t run into the Saints in the playoffs. This game was also Scorigami

Philadelphia at NY Giants

Well, the Eagles are still in first place. That’s about all I can say good about them after this game

San Francisco at New Orleans

If Brees can’t come back next week, who knows whether it’ll be Hill or Winston?

LA Chargers at Miami

All SEVEN of the Chargers’ losses have been by one possession. It’s just comical at this point

Seattle at LA Rams

Jalen Ramsey TOTALLY blanketed DK Metcalf, forcing Wilson to go elsewhere, where he still got picked twice by Darius Williams

Jacksonville at Green Bay

The Packers honored Paul Hornung before the game

Baltimore at New England

The Patriots still have a reasonable chance to make the playoffs. It appears Newton’s sucking post-COVID could have just been due to a slow recovery from it

Washington at Detroit

Longest GW FG in Lions history!

Buffalo at Arizona

In a rare move (caused by the Masters) the most distributed game of the day was a 4:05 game on the singleheader network, going to 67% of the country, who saw the Hail Murray. CBS’s obsession with starting 60 Minutes as soon as possible screwed the other 33% of the country from seeing this game however. When DEN@LV and LAC@MIA both ended before this game did, those audiences should have been shifted to this game. Yet they started 60 Minutes immediately for those audiences, which not only caused a desynced primetime for the rest of the night for CBS, but also ridiculously disallowed those people from seeing this incredible ending

Ranking Week 9 Sunday games

Ranking today’s games, least exciting to most exciting

New Orleans at Tampa Bay

The majority of Brady’s losses this season have been to Brees

Chicago at Tennessee

This game wasn’t remotely as close as the final score makes it appear

Baltimore at Indianapolis

Detroit at Minnesota

Dalvin Cook continues to put on a show

Seattle at Buffalo

The Bills are going to win the division

Denver at Atlanta

The Falcons once again almost blew a massive lead lol

Houston at Jacksonville

Well, the Texans finally got a win, against a team with just as bad a record as us though lol

NY Giants at Washington

2 INTs by Smith in Final 2 possessions

Miami at Arizona

Miami has a good chance to make the playoffs with the only left-handed starting QB in the league

Carolina at Kansas City

Even the return of CMC wasn’t enough for the Panthers to pull through. I don’t get what’s the deal with Teddy Bridgewater though.. twice now they’ve tried an unmakable length field goal rather than Hail Mary

Pittsburgh at Dallas

Embarrassing showing by the Pittsburgh Steelers

Las Vegas at LA Chargers

The Chargers prematurely tweeted that they won

The Return of Jimmy G was one of the most boring games of the day

Kansas City at Denver

snow game!

Green Bay at Houston

The Texans suck

Tampa Bay at Las Vegas

The Bucs are legit, which possibly means the Bears are legit? We'll have to find out tomorrow night

Buffalo at NY Jets

The Bills are going to win the division

Jacksonville at LA Chargers

This long-running game was the reason the much-anticipated episode of 60 Minutes featuring The Trump interview was delayed by 10 minutes

Carolina at New Orleans

Wow, that field goal was actually almost good from 65

Detroit at Atlanta

This was slightly dissimilar from the PSU game Saturday due to the fact that the Falcons were not already up when Gurley II "accidentally" scored the TD. However, even if they had missed at least he wouldn't have been to blame, if he had just taken a knee short of the goal line to run out the clock

Cleveland at Cincinnati

Two touchdowns were scored in the last 2 mins!

Pittsburgh at Tennessee

The Steelers are the only remaining undefeated team

Seattle at Arizona

The Steelers are the only remaining undefeated team

Ranking Week 5 Sunday games from least exciting to most exciting

 Miami at San Francisco

I hope Jimmy G’s only bad because he’s rusty from his time off during the injury. When I saw the score sometime in the first half before I watched any of the game, I was so sure either Mullens or Beathard were playing. I was flabbergasted when I found out Jimmy G was playing so badly

Cincinnati at Baltimore

I think every team in the division except the Bengals will make the playoffs

Arizona at NY Jets

Even starting Joe Flacco couldn’t save the Jets with how bad they are

LA Rams at Washington

So glad to see Alex Smith return to football

Jacksonville at Houston

At least one Houston team won Sunday

Carolina at Atlanta

Another week, another coach fired in the NFL

Indianapolis at Cleveland

The Browns have scored 30 points in 4 straight games for the first time in 50 years

Philadelphia at Pittsburgh

Chase Claypool a touchdown in every quarter!

Las Vegas at Kansas City

Football Hunter Renfrow and Baseball Hunter Renfroe both played well today

NY Giants at Dallas

I don’t even know what to say about Dak because of how worried I am about him and how messed up it is that he didn’t get his long term deal. I can’t help but feel that he should have held out.

Minnesota at Seattle

The final drive, which included 2 4th down conversions, reminded me of Vince Young’s 99 yard drive at Arizona, which included THREE 4th down Conversions! You can see the full video of that drive if you search “Vince Young’s 99 yard walk off” on YouTube

NY Jets at Indianapolis

Philip Rivers 400 career pass TD

Washington at Cleveland

WFT couldn’t do enough to overcome Haskins, Jr’s 3 INT

Las Vegas at New England

The Patriots are 8 for 8 on 3rd and 3 or less this season

Tampa Bay at Denver

Brady so far not having the problems he used to have in Denver over the years with the Pats

Cincinnati at Philadelphia

Two winless teams faced each other and both remained winless

Green Bay at New Orleans

The Saints lost the game on the Taysom Hill fumble which happened when Drew Brees wasn’t even on the field smh

Houston at Pittsburgh

I don’t think the Texans’ season is over. The 3 teams they’ve played are 3 of the best in the AFC

Carolina at LA Chargers

The Chargers almost pulled off the Boise State book-and-ladder at the end

Detroit at Arizona

The Cardinals couldn’t do enough to overcome Football Murray’s 3 INT

Tennessee at Minnesota

The Vikings are so bad. If the NFL actually keeps Vikings at Seahawks as the Sunday night game in Week 5, it has a decent chance of actually losing in the ratings to NBA Finals Game 6

Dallas at Seattle

Seahawks 3-0 for first time since 2013

Chicago at Atlanta

3 4th qtr TDs by Super Bowl MVP Foles

San Francisco at NY Jets

Jimmy G, Mostert, Bosa, Thomas, Deebo, Kittle, Sherman.....

Washington at Arizona

Football Murray played better than Basketball Murray today. Meanwhile, Tennis Murray has a wild card into the French Open.

Detroit at Green Bay

There was no one there to accept Aaron Jones's Lambeau Leap when he leapt

Baltimore at Houston

Just when I got excited thinking the Texans had held the Ravens to a 4th down and would get the ball back, they run it all the way for a TD on 4th and 1 and ice the game

LA Rams at Philadelphia

Eagles first 0-2 start since 2015

NY Giants at Chicago

OPI on Jones's final throw anyway means it wouldn't have mattered even if he had completed it

Carolina at Tampa Bay

Brett Favre showing up and wearing the creamsicle Tompa Bay shirt was hilarious

Denver at Pittsburgh

This game was too close by the Steelers against a bad team's backup quarterback, so I'm not sure yet whether they're a truly top caliber team this year

Buffalo at Miami

The Bills are going to win the division

Jacksonville at Tennessee

Titans first 2-0 start since 2008, which was when they were the AFC 1 Seed

Kansas City at LA Chargers

Anthony Lynn is straight up lying about Tyrod Taylor starting moving forward

New England at Seattle

Maybe the Patriots should have passed not run the ball, like Wilson tried in Super Bowl XLIX

Atlanta at Dallas

The whole Falcons hands team decided to play "look ma, no hands" like their name was Dexter McCluster in LSU Ole Miss 2009

Green Bay at Minnesota

Rodgers makes average receivers good

Seattle at Atlanta

Seahawks next Sunday night on NBC host the Pats

Miami at New England

Some Dolphins tried to snatch Cam’s chain off his neck at the end of the game

Tampa Bay at New Orleans

It was the 4th different decade during which Brady and Brees faced each other. Their first meeting was between Michigan and Purdue in 1999.

Philadelphia at Washington

Hilarious game for Eagles fan Barstool Fran to start her new football podcast after

Indianapolis at Jacksonville

“I lost the game” -T.Y. Hilton

Chicago at Detroit

Dumb drop at the end is what lost it for the Lions. Insane comeback by Bears though

Las Vegas at Carolina

Not sure why some guy I’ve never heard of who has 15 career carries got the ball on 4th and 1 with the game on the line

LA Chargers at Cincinnati

This OPI call will get talked about a lot less than the Cowboys one

Arizona at San Francisco

Patrick Peterson is a great cornerback, but I can’t help but feel that he got lucky because on the play when he stopped the game-winning TD for SF, he wasn’t facing the ball and it just bounced off his helmet.

Dallas at LA Rams

First Take and Undisputed are definitely going to spend a combined 3 hours minimum just on this one OPI call
