NEWMAC women's lacrosse playoff scenarios

Six teams have already clinched the six available berths in the tournament. They are: Babson, Wheaton, Springfield, MIT, Wellesley, and Emerson. Springfield is guaranteed the top seed in the tournament, meaning that they will host the semifinals and final of the tournament on the weekend of May 6 and 7.

Current standings:
1. Springfield (7-0)
2. Babson (6-1)
3. Wheaton (5-2)
4. MIT (4-3)
4. Wellesley (4-3)
4. Emerson (4-3)

Springfield and Babson have clinched the two first round byes.
Wheaton is locked into being either 3 or 4.
Seeds 3 and 4 will get to host the first round games.

SPRINGFIELD
has already clinched everything.

BABSON
has already clinched:
the second seed and a first round bye, and can clinch nothing more.

WHEATON
has already clinched:
a top four seeding and the right to host the first round, and can clinch nothing more.

MIT
has already clinched:
a spot in the tournament.
can clinch:
a top four seeding with:
1) a win + Wellesley loss OR
2) win the random draw in 3-way tie at 4-4*

WELLESLEY
has already clinched:
a spot in the tournament.
can clinch:
a top four seeding with:
1) a win + Emerson loss OR
2) a win + MIT win OR
3) win the random draw in 3-way tie at 4-4*

EMERSON
has already clinched:
a spot in the tournament.
can clinch:
a top four seeding with:
1) a win + MIT loss OR
2) win the random draw in 3-way tie at 4-4*

MOUNT HOLYOKE, SMITH, and COAST GUARD have been eliminated.

NEWMAC first round
Saturday, April 29:
6th seed at 3rd seed (1pm)
5th seed at 4th seed (1pm)

Semifinals
Saturday, May 6:
4/5 winner at Springfield (noon)
3/6 winner vs. 2nd seed (game at Springfield) (3pm)

Final
Sunday, May 7:
Winners of semifinals (game at Springfield) (1pm)

*Explanation of the three-way tiebreak if Wellesley, MIT, and Emerson all finish 4-4.
They went 1-1 against the other two in the tiebreak, so the tiebreak looks at their games against the other teams in the conference to find any differences, starting at the top seed and moving to the bottom seed. However, there are no differences since all 3 lost to the top 3 seeds and beat the bottom 3 seeds.
Then, it goes to out-of-conference common opponents, but there were none.
Thus, it goes to a random draw.
