CFP scenarios

 Here’s my overall CFP analysis:

Georgia is in.

Alabama, Michigan, and Oklahoma State all control their own destinies.

If one of them loses, Cincinnati gets in as #4. If two of them lose, Cincinnati gets in as #3 and Notre Dame as #4. If all three of them lose, Cincinnati gets in as #2, Notre Dame as #3, and Baylor as #4.

If Cincinnati loses, I think they could still get in since they’d be 12-1, especially in a sea of 2-loss teams, but if the committee is determined to eliminate Cincinnati with a loss, then I think the next team to get in after Baylor would be Oregon. If Oregon also loses, then either Ole Miss, Ohio State, or Michigan would get in as the 4 seed.

So if Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, and Oregon all lose, we could end up with

#1 Georgia

#2 Notre Dame

#3 Baylor

#4 Ole Miss/Michigan/Ohio State

Ratings comparison: Olympic trials and NBA Playoffs go head-to-head for the first time ever

Due to the delay in the NBA season, the playoffs are still ongoing and were throughout the two weeks of the Olympic trials on NBC. Normally, NBC totally dominates in the ratings these two weeks because of no other major primetime sports going on in late June, but had competition this year.

They only beat the NBA on two nights: both nights of the women's gymnastics competition. An interesting note about this is that the women's gymnastics Olympic final later this month will air the same night as the NBA Draft.

The below table will go day-by-day comparing the ratings, and also list if anything else on TV broke into the top 2 in ratings that night.

Monday, June 21, had no NBA and is therefore not included in the table.

Tuesday, June 22, Wednesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 24, had no Olympic trials and are therefore are not included in the table.

On nights with multiple NBA games, the only one listed is the one that was simultaneous to the trials.

On some trials nights with multiple sports, only one sport is listed if it was the only one simultaneous with NBA.

Day Olympic trials NBA Playoffs Anything else that night in the top 2?
